Adult Bible Study

Pastor David Walker

Adults of all ages come together for light, a fun, relaxing experience during periodic four-week sessions. We learn about Bible scripture and teachings. We discuss how these teachings promote Christian living in our daily lives.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY: THE GENERAL RULES BY JOHN WESLEY

At Belden Methodist Church, we are followers of John Wesley and Methodism. So what exactly does that mean? After all, it’s probably a good idea to know who you are following and what that leader espouses. Way back in 1738, John Wesley first devised a set of rules. The General Rules provide a helpful summation of the kind of intentional discipleship which marked early Methodism, summed up in three simple terms: do no harm, do good to all, and stay connected to the sacramental and devotional life of the church. Despite being 238 years old, these General Rules remain a practical and vital way to live out your Christian faith. Beginning on Thursday, November 2, from 6:30 to 7:30, I will lead an Adult Bible Study on the General Rules. We will break down each of the General Rules and have lively discussions about their meaning and how we can live them out today. As always, the evening will be fun, fast-paced and everybody will get involved. The class will meet November 2, 9, 16 & 30 in the upstairs meeting room. I hope to see a lot of you there. If anyone needs a ride, please let me know and we can make arrangements. Also, if you cannot make all the classes, that’s okay.
